A vastu consultant in Al Barsha looks at how your villa or apartment is laid out: the main entrance, the north-east corner, the kitchen, the master bedroom and the place you work. The aim is practical changes in furniture, colour, light and use of rooms, not demolition. I offer these reviews in person in Al Barsha and online from floor plans.
Al Barsha is one of the areas I am asked about most, because it holds two very different kinds of homes side by side: the older family villas of Al Barsha 1, 2 and 3, and the apartment buildings around Mall of the Emirates and towards Al Barsha Heights. A vastu review looks different in each.
Al Barsha villas: plots, entrances and gardens
Many Al Barsha villas sit on a regular street grid, so the main door often faces one of the four cardinal directions fairly cleanly. That makes the first reading easier. In a villa review I look at:
- Main entrance: which direction it faces, what you see first when the door opens, and whether shoes, bins or storage block the threshold.
- North-east: traditionally kept light, open and clean. In villas this is sometimes where a majlis, a guest toilet or a heavy store room has been placed, and we look at what can be lightened.
- South-west: traditionally the place for weight and stability, often the master bedroom.
- Garden and boundary walls: older villas often have tall trees, water tanks or outdoor kitchens added over the years. Where they sit matters in a vastu reading.
Many families in Al Barsha rent rather than own, and landlords rarely allow structural changes. So almost everything I suggest can be done with furniture, mirrors, colour, plants and lighting.
Al Barsha apartments: working inside fixed walls
Apartments near Mall of the Emirates and along the Sheikh Zayed Road edge are compact and the layout is fixed by the developer. Here the review focuses on:
- The entrance corridor: often narrow and dark. Good light and a clear, uncluttered path are the first fix.
- Kitchen position: open kitchens are common. Where the stove faces and how it sits relative to the sink is something we can often adjust in daily use, even if the units cannot move.
- Bedroom and bed direction: head position while sleeping is one of the simplest, most effective changes in a rented flat.
- Balcony: many Al Barsha balconies become storage. In vastu, a cluttered balcony in the north or east is worth clearing first.
Working from home in Al Barsha
With media and tech offices close by in Al Barsha Heights and Dubai Internet City, many residents work from home some days. A small desk in the right place can make a quiet difference to how a home office feels. I usually suggest facing north or east while working where the room allows, keeping the back supported by a wall rather than a door, and moving the desk out of the bedroom if there is any other option.
Vastu is a traditional system of space planning. It can help a home feel calmer and more organised, but it does not promise money, health, relationships or any particular outcome.
Timing a review: Diwali, moving day and the cooler months
Al Barsha has a large Indian and South Asian community, and many families like to settle the home before Diwali. Others call me just before signing a lease, which is the best moment: you can compare two or three units with a vastu eye before committing. The cooler months from November to March are also a good time for villa gardens and outdoor areas, when it is pleasant to walk the plot together.
How the Al Barsha review works
- In person: I visit the villa or apartment in Al Barsha, check directions with a compass and walk each room with you.
- Online: you send the floor plan and a short phone video, and we go through it on a call.
- Afterwards: you receive a clear list of changes in order of priority, starting with the ones that cost nothing.

Three things you can check yourself today
Before any consultation, you can walk your Al Barsha home with a phone compass and look at three things. First, stand at the main door and note which direction you face as you walk out. Second, find the north-east corner of the home and simply look at what is there: is it light and open, or is it the place where suitcases, shoe racks or the laundry basket have ended up? Third, check which way your head points when you sleep. Write these three notes down and send them with your floor plan. They make an online review faster and give you a feel for how vastu reads a space, even before we speak.
