Some homes simply feel heavy. You sleep eight hours and wake up tired, tempers rise for no reason, and small things keep going wrong. After 12 years of inspecting homes and offices, I have learned that the cause is rarely mystical. It is usually something we can see, smell, measure or fix.

- Keep a 2-week diary of sleep, mood, headaches and allergies.
- Do the sleep test in another room.
- Use your senses room by room (musty smell, damp patches, black spots, cracks, insects).
- Look inside your AC vents and filters.
- Measure the basics: a humidity meter (above about 60% means mould is likely) and a basic EMF meter near the bed.
- Run the router test: router off and chargers away from the bed at night for two weeks.
- Try the compass test on the bed (rule out steel springs, magnets and appliances first).
- Do a clutter audit, starting under the bed.
